Gorillaz will be returning to North America for the first time in seven years this July for their 'Humanz' album tour.
The 17-date run kicks off on Saturday 8th July at the Huntingdon Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island in Chicago, IL, before heading to Toronto, Boston, Washington, D.C., NYC, Las Vegas, LA and more.
Gorillaz round off the trip in Miami, FL, headlining III Points Festival, which takes place from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October.
With Gorillaz’s new album dropping at the end of month, a new tour in the works and their own festival, Demon Dayz, the virtual band led by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have confirmed that there’s also a Gorillaz TV show in the works.
Gorillaz revealed that they would drop a new track, titled ‘Let Me Out’ – featuring Mavis Staples and Pusha T – taken from their forthcoming album ‘Humanz’ yesterday (6th April).
The track premiered on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show last night. You can listen to it below.
Gorillaz are set to drop a new track, titled ‘Let Me Out’, which features Mavis Staples and Pusha T, on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 show later today.
The premiere runs alongside an interview with Gorillaz man Damon Albarn, who has revealed in a clip that has run ahead of Lowe’s show that he has over 40 tracks that didn’t make the cut of the cartoon band’s new album.
“I’m just sort of slowly going through all tunes that sort of didn’t work out and finishing them,” he said, continuing to joke that they mean he “can stay in the game for at least another 18 months.”
Gorillaz are launching three immersive “Spirit House” pop-ups in Berlin, Amsterdam and New York later this month, which will allow fans to step inside the home of the virtual band.
Described as “immersive, high fidelity” areas in “raw spaces”, each house with feature projections, sculpture and installations alongside more traditional forms of art and music from the band.
“Come and bathe in high-tech sound, feast on unearthly visuals, and let the experience take you on the ultimate trip,” bassist Murdoc Niccals said in a statement.
Gorillaz have annouced they will play Canada's Festival d'été de Québec — Quebec City Summer Festival, marking the band's first North American gig in seven years.
The event takes place on Saturday 15th July, shortly after the band's own Demon Dayz festival, which takes over Dreamland in Margate, UK on Saturday 10th June.
Gorillaz have announced that their new album 'Humanz' will be released on Friday 28th April via Parlophone.
Alongside today's announcement, the virtual band led by Damon Albarn has shared a unique Jamie Hewlett-directed animated film, which features four 'Humanz' tracks.
The tracks included in the animated film are ‘Saturnz Barz’ in full, plus highlights of ‘Ascension’, ‘Andromeda’ and ‘We Got The Power’. The animated film will also be released in VR via Google's Daydream in April, too.
Gorillaz will reveal new music today (23rd March 2017) via BBC Radio 1, as part of radio host Mistajam’s Hottest Record of the Week segment.
The hotly-anticipated show is set to kick off tonight from 7.30pm GMT/3.30pm EST, and will be the first new material from the band since their latest single ‘Hallelujah Money’ dropped back in January.
A tracklisting reportedly to be from Gorillaz's as-yet unnamed new album has leaked online and it features collaborations with De La Soul, Danny Brown, Vince Staples and more.
The leaked tracklist comes from website HasItLeaked, where according to one of its users the tracks have been registered with the UK's Phonographic Performance Limited.
Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett are curating a one-day festival, called Demon Dayz, which is set to take place at Dreamland’s amusement park in Margate on Saturday 10th June.
The only details of the line-up so far are that Gorillaz themselves will headline, marking their first UK performance since 2010.
Tickets to the event start at £60, which includes free use of Dreamland’s amusement park.
